This Privacy Policy explains what information Push-Up Academy ("the App", "we", "us") collects when you use our mobile application, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the practices described here and to our Terms of Use.
We collect the following categories of information directly from you or automatically as you use the App.
We do not collect or store your payment card or bank details (payments are handled by Apple or Google), precise location, contacts, or SMS/call data.
AI rep counting (live camera use). When you use the AI Tracker, the App accesses your device camera to detect body position and count reps in real time using on-device pose-detection technology. This video feed is processed entirely on your device — it is not recorded, saved, uploaded, or transmitted to us or any third party. Only the resulting rep count and session summary (numbers, not images or video) are saved to your account.
Profile photos. If you choose to set a profile picture, the App will ask for camera or photo-library access so you can take or select a photo. Unlike live tracking, this photo is uploaded and stored on our servers because it's used as your visible profile picture.
Audio. The App plays background music and workout sound effects while you're actively using it; playback pauses automatically when the App is backgrounded or your screen is locked. We do not access, record, or transmit microphone audio.
The App is supported in part by advertising, and we use analytics to understand how the App is used so we can improve it. This involves the following third-party services:
We display ads (including banner and full-screen ads) through Google AdMob, part of Google's advertising services. AdMob may collect and use your device's advertising identifier, general device information, and app interaction data to select, deliver, and measure the performance of ads, and to help prevent fraud. Google acts as an independent data controller for this processing; see Google's Privacy Policy and Google's Ads Publisher Policies for details on how Google handles this data.
We use PostHog, a product analytics service, to record in-app events (such as screens viewed, workouts and duels started or completed, and ads shown) and basic device information. This helps us understand which features are useful and diagnose problems. See PostHog's Privacy Policy for details on how PostHog handles this data. If you delete your account, we also request deletion of the corresponding analytics profile from PostHog.
If you allow notifications, the App registers your device with Expo's push notification service, which delivers messages through Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android) and Apple Push Notification service (iOS). We store the resulting push token with your account and use it to send notifications such as:
The App may also schedule local reminders and alarms (such as the reveille alarm) directly on your device. You can turn push notifications off at any time in your device's system settings, and turn the reveille alarm off in Profile > Settings.
We send account emails (such as sign-up confirmation) and activity emails (such as duel invitations and duel accepted notices) to the email address on your account. Account emails are sent through our authentication provider, Supabase; duel emails are sent through Resend, an email delivery service, which receives your email address and the message content in order to deliver them. You can turn duel emails off at any time in Profile > Settings > Duel Emails.
The App offers an optional paid subscription that unlocks premium features, such as removing ads. Purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) — we never receive your card or bank details. We use RevenueCat, a subscription management service, to manage subscriptions: it receives your account ID, purchase receipts, and subscription status from the app store so we can verify your purchase and unlock premium features. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy for details on how RevenueCat handles this data.
You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting your Push-Up Academy account does not cancel an active subscription — please cancel it through the store first.
Push-Up Academy includes social features that show some of your information to other users of the App:
Your email address, exact push-up log history, and account credentials are never shown to other users. If you block someone, they can no longer see you on leaderboards or challenge you, and you won't see them either. If you'd prefer not to appear on leaderboards, contact us using the details below.
Your account, profile, and activity data are stored using Supabase, a hosted database and authentication provider, on secure cloud infrastructure. Data is encrypted in transit, and access to the database is restricted by row-level security rules so that you can only read and modify your own private data.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We work to use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect your information.
We retain your account and activity data for as long as your account remains active. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Safety reports may be kept after an account is deleted where we need them to prevent repeat abuse. When you delete your account, we also request deletion of your analytics profile from PostHog. Records of purchases may be retained by RevenueCat and the app stores as required for tax, accounting, and legal purposes.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address in the Contact section below. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Push-Up Academy is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
Your information may be processed and stored on servers located outside your country of residence. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to these locations, which may have data protection laws different from those in your country.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or applicable law. We will update the "Effective date" above when we do, and material changes will be communicated within the App where appropriate. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
